Item Description
First is a bellows-shaped viewer, probably of bone, only .75" long. Inside is a view of New York City with Central Park in the distance. Scene is captioned "Vue Generale De New York." c. 1900 or even earlier. One of the smallest Stanhopes we've encountered. Clear image. The following five pieces are all designed as miniature books with the words on the front cover "Mascot Book." Towards the upper left of each is a viewing hole. The first two in red and a tortoise shell pattern have interior photo showing massive skyscraper with text above the top "Empire State Building" and text below the bottom edge "New York City." The next three in tortoise pattern and green are identical. The view has circular design with edge reading "New York City/City Of Wonders." Within that circle is a view of the "Statue Of Liberty" with city skyline in the background. Clear details on all. Each marked on the reverse "Japan" and from the 1930s. Exc. to NM.
