Item Description
First is 1" enamel on brass pin with reverse carrying name of maker W&H Co. Front text reads "AAA/Registered Racing Driver No. 65/1922." The American Automobile Association first sanctioned automobile races in 1902. The first track season championship for racing cars was in 1905 won by Barney Oldfield. We have not been able to track down the name of "Driver No. 65" but likely this badge is unique. Next is 3" wide heavy brass wings badge with center text "Harley-Davidson Motor Cycles." c. 1930s. Third is British made 2" tall enamel on brass badge featuring the numeral "8" and with text "Motor Exhibition/Daimler/Staff." c. 1930s. Fourth is enamel on brass European made lapel stud with colorful logo of issuer and with text "Alfa-Romeo/Milano." Last, and probably sterling but unmarked, is 1-5/8" tall stickpin with the Mercedes Benz logo. These last two pieces are c. 1930s. All are Exc. to NM.
