Item Description
The first two are Muchinsky plate examples #14-15 from page #400. Each of these is a 3.5" button. Both say "I Was There!" but one is without a date and the other carries date of "September 6, 1995." Muchinsky notes in his book that the dated pin was issued assuming that Ripken would break the Lou Gehrig record for most consecutive games played (2130) on the scheduled play date. The undated button was made just in case the scheduled game was rained out. Both have numerous but very tiny indents on the button surface and this seems to be in the manufacturing as otherwise they are both essentially Mint. Additional four items include 3" full color photo button with taped on ribbon having number "2131" in gold designating the record breaking game. Ribbon has some stains and very slight tackiness from tape once applied to the front. The button has a little age tone along the extreme left edge. Next is 2.25" "Ripken Tribute" button with dates for the historic "September 5-6-7" 1995 play dates plus "Aberdeen, Md." Last is a pair of 2.25" "Cal Ripken, Jr. Fan Club" buttons. Both of these have Badge-A-Minit backs. Likely made in very small quantity. All are NM to Mint except as noted. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
