Item Description
This is among the most unusually constructed pin-back buttons we have ever encountered. The piece is 4.25" square made of thin sheets of hard plastic. These comprise the front which carries the bright red logo with text in blue and red reading "Boston Red Sox." The back of the piece is a more yellowish tone of hard plastic and towards the top there are a pair of tiny circular cutouts which hold a brass bar pin. There is a near invisible seam around all four side edges joining the front and back plastic sheets into a single unit. On the back along the top edge is a .75" extremely thin hairline crack but with all the plastic laying flat and really not causing any structural problems at all. The front of the piece has only the most trivial traces of wear. We estimate from the 1960s although perhaps a bit earlier. Item is shown as #30 on page #144. Muchinsky gave the item an estimated value of $300. Only example we've seen. Paul Muchinsky Collection.
