Item Description
Three of these are by W&H while the fourth, undated but from the 1890s carries tiny text name of maker Baldwin & Gleason and is designed as a book. First item promotes "Headquarters For Kodak" in Boston and offers development of films received before 10 A.M. as being ready by 4 P.M. Small tan mark on the blank reverse. Second is 2.5x3-7/8" celluloid with a die cut around the bottle at the center of what is designed as a book cover. The product promoted is "Vin Mariani/The Ideal Tonic" for "Body & Brain." The spine of the book reads "Album Of 75 Portraits And Autographs Of Noted Celebrities Who Testify To Merits Of Vin Mariani." Surrounding the bottle are the names of famous 19th century people such as Bartholdi, Zola, and Bernhardt. Reverse has additional advertising text and includes addresses for the company in London, Paris and New York. One of the earliest cello bookmarks we've seen in our 50 years. Fourth is 3.5" die cut fish with reverse advertising for "Steamers Penn & Lord Baltimore Of Ericsson Line Between Philadelphia And Baltimore." There is a tiny break in the celluloid along the bottom edge beneath the gill but barely seen and showing only as a faint 1/8" hairline. Fourth is 2.5" bookmark for "Use Mennen's Violet Talcum Toilet Powder." Exc. to Mint except as noted.
