Item Description
Pair of 11.5x15.25" single-sided prints from a long-running Currier & Ives series featuring stereotypically depicted African-Americans. ©1884-1885. No. 4 "The Darktown Fire Brigade - The Last Shake" w/wrecked "Niagara" fire engine and the chaos the crew endure during the wreck. Upper right corner has 1x1.75" corner piece missing. Good/VG. No. 7 "The Darktown Hook And Ladder Corps" features early hook and ladder outfit w/six firefighters wearing helmets and pair of children on side of road watching them pass. Some scattered age spotting w/small piece of paper tape at upper corners. Fine.
