Item Description
8" long. Large text "Polk" w/the "O" and "K" printed in larger block letters for emphasis. At top an eagle, wings spread, carries an American flag in its beak and at bottom is stately rooster. Additional text reads "For Vice President George M. Dallas/ For Governor Francis R. Shunk/Canal Commissioner Joshua Hartshorne." Shunk replaced Henry Muhlenberg on the ballot in 1844 after his untimely death. Hartshorne was running for office in Chester County, PA. A less than 2" diagonal crease at top left corner that is well flattened and scattered light brown spots of toning that blend evenly into the background. Fine. Text and graphics remain bold. VF.
