Item Description
Pair of single-sided 5.5x8.5" handbills. "Shindig!" handbill is for May through August, 1965 events. Handbill is broken down into five sections - Gerry and The Pacemakers, Bobby Sherman and others; The Rolling Stones (May 29); The Dave Clark 5 (June 18); The Kinks and The Moody Blues (June 19); The Beatles (Aug. 15 at Shea Stadium). Handbill notes tickets were available by mail only via Sid Bernstein Enterprises Inc. of New York.  Beatles section also notes "The 1st New York Folk Festival," which featured Phil Ochs and Chuck Berry. Two horizontal fold lines w/some lt. handling wear. Still VF overall. "The 1st New York Folk Festival" handbill notes programming for June 17-20, 1965 event that took place a Carnegie Hall. Presented by Manheim Fox and John Stein in association w/Sid Bernstein, the festival featured Johnny Cash, June Carter, Son House, Doc Watson, Muddy Waters and nearly 60 other singers. Originally mailed together w/"Shindig!" handbill and as such, has matching fold lines. VF. Rare and historic pair.
