15.25x22".  Edited by William Lloyd Garrison. Graphic masthead has scene of a slave family being broken up at auction w/a broadside on auctioneers podium reading "Slaves Horse & Other Cattle To Be Sold At Auction." Toning extending 3.5" along bottom and 1.5" along right edge. Handling wear consistent w/moderate use. A rare surviving example of the leading anti-slavery publication of the era. Garrison, an important Bostonian abolitonist, founded The Liberator and was its editor for over 30 years from 1831-1865. Ted Watts Collection.
