Item Description
7.5x7.5x3.25" deep illustrated cardboard box contains complete and unused set by Ohio Art, 1930s. Box is complete w/insert that holds the five-piece tin litho set. Small size sand pail is 2-7/8" tall (4-3/8" to top of raised handle) and depicts Mickey Mouse running a beverage stand while trying to get the attention of Minnie Mouse and Clarabelle Cow as Pluto licks a pitcher. Comes w/7-1/8" long tin litho shovel that has image of Mickey diving into large wave as Minnie watches from beach. The other generic (as issued) pieces are three different sand molds. Tiny paint marks as produced but set remains unused and Exc./NM, old store stock. Top of die-cut lid is scene of Mickey and Minnie at the beach using sand set as Horace Horsecollar watches from the water. Two side panels feature different images of Mickey and Minnie w/sand set. Box shows obvious wear and die-cut portion of lid is loose and front left corner split w/staining from previous glue repair. Front side panel also has pair of .75" edge tears. Good/VG overall. Rare set as boxed w/contents in this high grade condition. We offered this set w/slightly different contents w/different sand molds and generic shovel in our March 2015 auction, where it sold for $2,090.
