Item Description
The International Labor Defense was founded in 1925 serving as an arm of the Communist Party. It was instrumental in defending Sacco and Vanzetti and played a major role in the Scottsboro Boys' defense. All three buttons are litho. Stud is brass and small generic card may be original. First is 13/16" "Milk For The Children Of Labor Prisoners". Light .25" scratch. VF. Second with green cross is 11/16" with paint craze, VG, and third is 11/16" naming "Free Clide Allen" (we've seen him referred to as "the Scottsboro Case of New York"). NM. Brass stud 5/8" long reads "ILD" and depicts classic jail barred window with two hands shown, one holding bandana. First we've seen and this could easily be 1920s rather than 1930s. Mint.
