Item Description
This classic toy's popularity saved the Lionel Corp. from bankruptcy during the Depression. 8x11.25x2.25" tall illustrated box contains 9" long wind-up toy w/period key and six original curved track sections. Box shows obvious aging/wear w/three lid corner splits (one w/tape repair) and moderate edge wear. Lid's main panel has some scattered moisture staining along edges. VG overall. 4.5" tall composition figures of Mickey and Minnie Mouse are attached to painted metal hand car, this is red variety (also known in green, orange and maroon). Mickey and Minnie's legs and tails have been professionally replaced, Minnie wears original wooden hat. Toy works well and travels around, figures move as if controlling the handcar and bell rings. Toy shows lt. scattered wear w/some small paint flakes to edges of Mickey and Minnie's ears and some tiny paint nicks/scratches to hand car. Mickey has a .75" hairline to upper back. Both figures o/w retain choice paint. Fine overall.
