Item Description
Exquisitely hand-decorated porcelain sculpture atop wooden base has impressive overall size of 12x17x10.5" tall. Sculpted by Enzo Arzenton, who first started producing sculptures for the Laurenz Disney Collection in 1983 and continued to do so until he retired in 1999. Upon his retirement, production on all Disney pieces ceased. This is the very first Disney piece he produced, first released in 1983 w/an issue price of $2,370. The production run was initially 2,500 pieces, but as w/nearly every piece in this line, final production was much more limited. This particular piece had a total of 1,000 produced. Back of sculpture has incised area of scrolls w/"Capodimonte" name. Inside this area has handwritten "53 Limited 2500" notation. To right of this area is incised "The Walt Disney Company" and "Made In Italy" text. Incredibly detailed scene features Snow White and the Dwarfs gathered around large table. Dwarfs are shown eating, pointing, reaching for food, all the while Snow White is at the center of things trying to gain control of the dinner. Table has plates of food, utensils, cups, etc. Front has scroll reading "Walt Disney's Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs" and below this on the wood base is "Laurenz" plaque. Does not come w/original box or COA but sculpture is Mint as issued. An extraordinary sculpture which is a must-have for collectors of Snow White and capodimonte. Very conservative opening bid based on issue price and current asking price on the secondary market.
