Item Description
5-3/8x7-3/8" and 7.5x10.5" stiff paper. Fronts of both feature choice Superman illustration w/simulated wood border w/facsimile "Best Wishes From Your Friend Superman" inscription (images differ slightly). Several varieties/versions of this premium picture were issued over the years from 1942 to 1973. Larger of the two is same format as the earliest version, just w/updated 1948 copyright. Illustrated reverse advertises "Action Comics" #47, "World's Finest Comics" #5 and "Superman" #14. Given these specific comics, picture was most likely only used for a short time and later updated w/contemporary issues. Tiny corner bumps w/corner creases at upper left. Still displays VF overall. First we've seen on this large variety. Smaller has illustrated reverse advertising "World's Finest Comics" #33, "Superman" #53 and "Action Comics" #115. Pin hole w/small pull at top center. Tiny corner bumps w/some staining to top margin on reverse as once scrapbook mounted. Fine. Franco Toscanini Collection.
