Item Description
3.25x4.75" tin litho base w/different character art on all panels featuring Wimpy, Olive Oyl and scene of Alice the Goon punching the Sea Hag while holding Swee'Pea. Overall height is 9.5" when separate tin litho Popeye figure is placed in action position by means of wire rod emerging from roof. Built-in key. Underside has small Marx logo. c. mid-1930s. When wound, Popeye dances while Olive rocks from side to side, seated on "Dynamite - Danger" crate. Scarce variation. Crate is typically marked "Spinach." Roof has scattered trace of bare metal showing where Olive's feet rub. Popeye and Olive figures as well as base sides have a few scattered paint scratches/nicks. Fine, working example. Colorful and imaginative Marx toy.
