Item Description
Lot of four 1940s vinyl inflated figures w/permanently sealed edges (one w/inflation tube), ranging from 5.5" to 36" tall. Three smallest all have bells inside. 11.5" tall size has separate feet. Made of Vinylite by the Vanguard Corporation. Largest comes w/"Giant Inflato Playmates" box by Doughboy Industries, Inc. Box lid has stamped "Shmoo" name on side and shows aging/wear w/tears at corners. Fine. Figures have lost some air over the decades, but two smallest remain inflated enough for display purposes. Scattered aging and dust soiling; Fine to VF. Comes w/period 8x10" glossy news service photo of Milton Caniff holding specialty art of Shmoos getting ready to board plane for Berlin Airlift, as the Shmoo were well-known for their food making abilities. Stewardess stands on boarding ramp, holding large Shmoo inflatables like the one offered in this lot as well as various other Shmoo products. Photo has some handling wear and is evenly aged. Fine/VF.
