Item Description
Pair of 1940s posters printed by US Government Printing Office. 16.5x24-7/8" poster features four scenes from four different countries, depicting the atrocities being committed there during World War II. Countries include dead children in China, bombed ruins in England, starving family in France and man being beaten behind barbed wire fence by soldier in Germany. Text reads "Don't Let It Happen Here! Your Production Must Prevent It! Let's Win The Navy 'E' For Outstanding Achievement In The Production Of Ordinance Equipment" and shows flag, pennant and badge production awards at bottom. Poster has been rolled and shows moderate margin wear in 4" section at top left. VG overall, but would display nicely if framed. 30x40" poster features a number of photo images showing the manufacture of war supplies, their use on the battlefield and appreciation of the armed forces for factory workers. Images include depiction of bomb exploding on a swastika at end. "WMcL" artist initials at bottom left, but artist is unknown to us. Poster was folded as issued and has now been rolled. Moderate edge wear w/age spotting along bottom margin, some scattered moisture staining along center right margin and various small margin crease/tears. 4.75" vertical tear at bottom center fold line w/archival tape repair on reverse. VG. Campbell Family Collection.
