Item Description
One of a series of new 1990s Smith-Miller trucks, including models that had never been made in the 1950s. These were made using original old stock parts and new parts made from old dies by Fred Thompson, who purchased the Smith-Miller factory in 1979. This Union Oil tanker measures 35" long and is one of 250 made, originally sold for $995. Wonderfully detailed, tanker includes polished aluminum and steel construction, aluminum wheel w/rubber tires, functioning tandem suspension, fifth wheel configuration as well as chrome details and steering wheel and bench seat. Cab doors have 100% complete "Smitty Toys - Smith-Miller California - Famous Trucks In Miniature" and "76" logo decals. Tanker has large "Union" name and "Minute Man Service" decals w/image of Minute Man character. Mint as packaged, truck has never been removed from original shipping carton until image was shot for this auction.
