Item Description
40x60" hand painted cardboard concert poster advertising a "Holiday Shower Of Stars" event "Wednesday Dec. 30th" 1964. No location is given as this poster was displayed outside of the venue and is likely the only example ever produced. Acts include: Chad And Jeremy w/applied sleeve for their single "If I Loved You" at right; Bobby Goldsboro w/applied sleeve for his single "Honey" at left; Ronnie Cochrane 'Guitar Man' and "Ronnie DIO And The Prophets Band." Poster is most likely from the New York State regional area where Ronnie James Dio played in this group until 1967 when the band changed their name to The Electric Elves. Eventually the group shortened their name to Elf and found consistent work as the opening act for Deep Purple. From there, Dio and Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore formed Rainbow. Dio went on to perform in Black Sabbath, DIO and Heaven & Hell in a legendary five-decade career cementing a legacy as an icon of hard rock and a founding father of the metal genre. Edge wear including surface paper loss most notably at top right and left. Paint smearing affecting "Ronnie Cochrane" and several hairline surface cuts exposing cardboard beneath. Additionally, a damp stain affecting the right side. Good/VG. Thin metal frame w/out glass and ready for immediate display. A truly unique and early Dio artifact.
