Item Description
8.5" long. Silk. 1840. Additional text "And John Tyler The People's Candidates 'Honest And Capable'" w/motif of Harrison greeting a one legged soldier outside a log cabin w/a large "Hard Cider" barrel in view. A 2" slightly angled horizontal fabric pull that is nearly separated at top right just affecting the top of the portrait and a 1.25" horizontal pull along right edge that just affects Harrison's left ear. Trim at top just affects the text "Huntingdon County". Otherwise moderate age toning and handling including light horizontal folds and two less than .25" horizontal separations along left edge. Just VG. This is only the second time we can recall encountering this exact portrait the other being Sullivan/Fischer WHH-27. This version is unlisted by S/F and Hake and is the first we can recall being offered in commerce. Leon Rowe Collection.
