Item Description
15x24.5" cotton 39 star flag stitched to a 17.75x28.5" foam core board w/double matte ready for framing. Listed in Threads Of History as #485 w/a companion "Hancock And English" example also known. Stars are arranged in vertical rows and candidate's names are done in bold lettering w/accents flanking the word "And." Top and bottom edges are cut unevenly affecting top row of six stars. Margin is slightly darker extending .25" to 1" from edge as a result of being covered by matte. VG but will display VF when framed. Artifacts from the 1880 campaign are notoriously scarce and campaign flags of this era are rarely offered. An excellent opportunity to acquire a representative example that displays strikingly. Ron Koot Collection.
