Item Description
We've seen only one other example of this 1.25" button with maker name on curl of American Badge, Chicago. Button is likely from 1915 when Chaplin became the first movie actor to have a comic strip based upon himself. That strip began in early 1915 and was drawn and written beginning March, 1916 by E. C. Segar, the later creator of Popeye. In 1918, Hearst bought this paper and combined it with his Chicago Examiner. A rare and historic button in NM condition displaying Mint. The best of the two we've handled with the first in Auction #197 realizing $300. Rare and historic.
