Item Description
Earlier this year a Pittsburgh auction house sold buttons and W&H ephemera from the estate of an early 1900s company salesman. None of these buttons have any text indicating they were used to show prospective customers who could customize the inscriptions. The first button with gorgeous art nouveau depiction of a Dutch girl is typically seen with advertising for the Yetter-Davison Wallpaper Co. with divisions in Kansas City and Omaha. Reverse has W&H paper used 1900-1912. Next is a 1-5/8" tall oval designed as the top view of a tortoise shell. The only example of this button we've seen with advertising appears on the color plate page 164 of Collectible Pin-Back Buttons and pictures a wall mounted telephone titled "The Jumbo" and a product of the Hobson Electric Co. of Dallas/Houston. Reverse of this has W&H paper c. 1915. Last with chick hatching from egg also has W&H paper in use 1900-1912. This comes with various inscriptions. All three of these are essentially Mint and rare.
