Item Description
19.5x24.5" framed. 15x20" newsprint broadside published on the third day of the Irish Civil War, dated June 29 1922. Issued by the Republican militants led by Eamon de Valera who were opposing the Provisional Government led by Michael Collins. Reads in part: ''...Last Night A Cessation Of Hostilities Was Arranged To Enable The Moving Of The Wounded From The Four Courts To Hospital. The...Provisional Government Would Only Agree To Their Removal On Condition They Would Be... Kept In A Military Hospital. To This The Republican Authorities Could Not Agree...'' Scattered small losses in the field across center horizontal band. Handling wear and edge losses. Good. An incredible survivor and only the second we have encountered. Professionally framed and matted using museum glass that blocks UV rays.
