Item Description
Large and impressive, highly detailed 2.5" dia. by 1" thick pocket watch by R.H. Ingersoll & Bro. of New York as listed on watch face. Raised text on case front reads "World's Columbian Exposition - Chicago 1893." Back features raised design of Christopher Columbus at top, flanked by Native American and wreath-wearing Liberty w/main image of Columbus's ships the Niña, the Pinta and the Santa María set above Exposition building. Replicas of the ships were featured at the exposition. Back of case opens to reveal built-in winding key. Case has burnished metal finish as produced and shows little wear. VF. Watch face (w/smaller, second dial) has some scattered tiny spots of aging and is Fine/VF overall. Running. Wonderfully detailed, high quality pocket watch.
