Item Description
The first two items are from the "Democratic Gala" held Thurs. Jan. 19th at The Armory the night before Inauguration Day and Ball. Admission was a $100 contribution to the Democratic National Committee. Lot of eight items: first is invitation folder 7x10" with printing on front only. Second is 8.5 x 11" 40 page program showing the invitation on the front cover. Leads off w/full page photos of John and Jackie followed by the LBJ's, Truman and Eleanor Roosevelt. Includes order of events listing star studded line-up in two "Acts". Among the full page photos are: Belafonte, Joey Bishop, Nat Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Durante, Mahalia Jackson, Gene Kelly and then Act II photos of Lawford, Janet Leigh, Poitier, Anthony Quinn, Sinatra (the only illustration, not a photo), and many we've left out. Third is "Inauguration Guide Book (4.5x6, 28 pg), fourth is "Inaugural Parade General Order No. 1 (detailing events 6x9" 84pg), Fifth is sheet "Inaugural Activities (covers 1/18 thru 1/20) with ticket info on back, Sixth is Newsweek Blue Election Extra and seventh is Time Election Extra (both 8.25x11", 16pgs), and eighth is Life Inaugural Spectacle (8.25 x 11, 64 pgs) filled with great photos. Minor bit of age on gold cover of Life with all else in lot NM to Mint.
