Item Description
6.25x7" typed letter on "Joan Crawford" letterhead is dated March 28, 1967 and is addressed to Kay Lawrence, a reporter who quickly rose through the ranks and worked for the "Boston Record" as well as United Press International and became the Women's Feature Editor of the Associated Press's Radio and Television News Department. In 1960 and 1961, she was elected president of the prestigious New York Newspaper Women's Club. Letter from Crawford thanks Lawrence's AP feature on Crawford and for scheduling it on her birthday. Crawford has boldly signed her first name only in blue ink at bottom. Exc. Letter comes w/original mailing envelope w/typed name/address and printing Crawford name/address on back. Envelope is aged and Fine overall. TLS comes w/1.5x5.5" clipped index card w/blue ink note "To Joan Crawford - With Great Affection & Love - J. Edgar Hoover - 10-5-71." Unusual personal note from the head of the FBI to one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood. Hoover's message has oxidation mark from paper clip, but this does not affect signature, which still displays Exc. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA/COA.
