Item Description
Pair of posters issued in the 1940s to promote sale of war bonds. First poster is on glossy stiff paper and measures 20x23.5" and is one of only a few World War II posters to show actual battle image - the invasion of Italy at Salerno in 1943. One of a series of posters made for and displayed only in Bethlehem Steel's mills/shops. Text includes - "Back Up Our Heroes At Salerno - Buy An Extra Bond Today - Third War Loan." Scattered handling creases w/horizontal fold through center. Fine. Second poster measures 20x28" and was issued to bolster sales of the 56th War Loan. Poster features classic image of angry soldier looking down on map of Japan w/large "Next!" text across top and small image of bomb falling on Imperial Japanese flag. US Government Printing Office 1944-O-610930. Folded as issued w/moderate corner tip wear at bottom right. If framed, would display Fine.
