Item Description
This 1951 premium was part of early television's obsession with space and it was issued by Powerhouse Candy. Top of the bands have the words "Flying" and "Saucer" plus atomic symbols and stars on one side while opposite side shows a saucer shaped space craft and star accents. Attached to the top is a launching spinner which needs a generic string replacement. Ring comes with both original "Flying Saucer" disks which are aluminum about 2" in diameter. One is metal only for daytime use and the other has a glow-in-dark coating on the underside so that after light exposure launching it in the dark allows it to be visually seen. Saucer fits on tiny protrusion on the ring top and when the string is pulled the saucer launches rapidly into space. The ring has a small red paint chip off the top surface and a tiny bit missing from the side edges of the wheel that spins. Ring base has vast majority of bright original luster and the saucers are also in nice condition so overall Exc. Scarce and popular. Our last example which included the instruction sheet but only the nighttime saucer realized close to $300.
