Item Description
William Nicholson (1914-1996) was a MLB right fielder who played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies, and part of the latter's 1950 "Whiz Kids" team (see team-signed baseball, item #931). Nicholson was a five-time All-Star, two-time NL home run leader and two-time NL RBI leader. Offered are two wooden plaques w/attached etched plates. First measures 9x12" and was presented to Nicholson in recognition of his receiving "Honorary Life Membership" in "The Oldtimer's Baseball Association." Plaque was presented in recognition of his contribution  to the 1945 Chicago Cubs Championship season by The Old Times' Baseball Ass'n of Chicago on April 24, 1995. Some scattered wear but VF overall. Other plaque measures 10x12" and features photo of Nicholson along w/brief biography and stats. Undated, but presented to him shortly before his death (birth date listed, date of death left blank). Exc. Both are from his estate. A unique pair for this All-Star.
