Item Description
5.25x5.75". Letter dated 1867 and signed at conclusion "H. Greeley." Horizontal fold at center that has been reinforced w/paper tape on reverse. A 1.5" separation at left side of fold. Otherwise light handling and scattered age toning. Good. Invitation for the journalist and  politician's 61st birthday dated "Saturday 3 February 1872" w/portrait of Greeley at center. Three months later he became the nominee of the Liberal Republicans in opposition to Grant. Toning covering the right two thirds and moderate handling. VG. Comes w/Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
