Item Description
6.5" long by 8.75" tall painted cast iron. Interesting early counter trade simulator/gambling device. 1910. Front side has three holed cigar cutter. The donkey's pack (w/raised "49" number) has hopper on top. A small metal ball was dropped down and caused the donkeys ears (heads) or tail (tails) to move one way or the other thus settling a bet, w/cigars most likely serving as prizes. We have not tested the piece as tail is missing but makes for a nice display as is. Scattered paint wear but Fine overall.
