Item Description
1.5x1-7/8" cardstock w/two small holes at center and wire twist holding 1-1/8" tall beautifully detailed sterling silver charm showing Superman in flight w/one arm extended upward (which has a tiny ring so the piece could be joined to a pendant or bracelet). Red enamel paint on cape is 100% complete. Card has "Del Weston Creations" maker name and reads "Sterling Silver - Copyright 1946 - By Del Weston." Del Weston created a very small number of these charms at the request of DC Comics to determine if the charms could be mass produced and priced to make an acceptable profit. It was determined (in a meeting at DC Comics where Superman creators Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel were in attendance) that these charms could not be produced at a price to make an acceptable profit. Card is evenly aged and has some lt. handling wear. VF. Figure is remarkably detailed given its small size and sterling silver surface has nice aged patina. NM. Charm is rare on its own and is very rare carded.
