Item Description
Tim began as early as 1929 as a cartoon boy with no surname as the head of a franchised club to promote the sale of boy's clothing. The items in this group, from bottom to top of our photo, begin with a pair of 7/8" cello buttons from the late 1930s or early 1940s picturing Tim by himself with one promoting the "Store For Boys" and the other his "Pie Eaters Club." Both have W&H back papers. In the early 1940s Tim partnered with Superman to create the "Superman/Tim Club" as shown on the next pair of buttons which are 7/8" litho and each picturing both characters. The first of these has reverse text "Member In Good Standing" while the second reverse is covered in symbols and it would take the correct annual membership card to decipher the message. These buttons are c. 1942 and we believe the first two items to picture both characters. Last and the rarity of the group is a 1.25" tall die cut celluloid of full figure Superman with small image of Tim on the bottom right and with text "Official Superman Tim". Celluloid is attached to a 1.5" stickpin. We know of about a half dozen of these seen in our 50 years. See rare club ring, #1783. All items in this group are Exc. to Mint.
