Item Description
11x17" Marvel Comics artboard has Frank Teran's mixed media original art for cover of "The Punisher" Vol. 2 #100, published by Marvel Dec. 1991. Two covers were produced for this issue, this is art for newsstand edition, which featured an elaborate foil cover w/non-foil accents. Art comes w/printer's collage showing the various pieces assembled and processes noted to creature this special cover. Teran's art features a sweaty and scarred Punisher w/crazed look in his eyes. A skull appears in bkg. Both Punisher's head and the skull are original art paste-overs. Acetate sheet attached at bottom w/tape has "The Punisher" and "Giant-Sized!" subtitle stat paste-overs and "Marvel Comics" logo, issue number block, "Mind-Blowing Hundredth Issue!" starburst text and area for UPC are also stat paste-overs. Additional acetate overlay has photo paste-over of hand holding gun marked "FPO." Handwritten title, issue and month at bottom margin. Teran's initials appear at lower right. Scattered lt. handling wear w/staple holes at margin and some minor scattered margin staining. Art remains clean and Exc. Printer's collage shows obvious wear w/creases and 1.25x2.5" corner off bottom left. VG/Fine but interesting insight into the creation of this cover. Comes w/reading copy of the issue this cover art was published for. Jason Taulbee Collection.
