Item Description
Lot of 16 4.25" tall hand-painted tinplate soldiers. Original 11x15x1.5" deep cardboard box bottom w/die-cut insert that holds 11 soldiers in provided slots. Five additional soldiers are also included in the lot. Made in Germany, 1880s by unknown maker. Set includes officer in blue dress uniform w/bandolier, officer in white dress uniform w/drawn sword on shoulder and scabbard on side, along w/bugler and US flag bearer. 12 soldiers marching shoulder arms complete the lot. All have spiked helmets, marching soldiers have swords at sides and backpacks. All are attached to oval stepped bases. All have some flaking to original paint but most have 90% present, overall Fine to VF. Rarely found this nice and in this large a grouping.
