Item Description
22.5x35" stiff paper poster for The Ash Grove, a folk music club in Los Angeles, CA founded in 1958 by Ed Pearl and named after the Welsh folk song, "The Ash Grove." In its short 15 years (the venue closed in 1973), the Ash Grove forever altered the music scene in Los Angeles and helped many artists find a West Coast audience. Artists who performed there included - Son House, Muddy Waters, Pete Seeger, June Carter, Johnny Cash, Joan Baez, Lightnin' Hopkins, Arlo Guthrie, Howlin' Wolf and Willie Dixon among many others. Posters features art by Earl Newman, who created many posters for the Monterey Jazz Festival. Poster is evenly aged w/pinholes at corners and pulls at top corner pinholes. A few staple holes across vertical center. Back has tape staining along margins, though this does not affect front's display. Scattered handling wear. Fine overall.
