Item Description
3-1/8x3-5/8x5/8" thick hinged embossed leather case w/plush velvet lining and exterior metal hook latch contains sixth plate daguerreotype showing portrait of two US Navy sailors - D.C. McFarland and C.H. Heath (as identified on back) - in two different uniforms. Hand-tinted. 1850s. Case has cloth tape reinforcement added to hinge, but this is not too distracting. Case shows scattered wear at corners w/some flaking and along edges, but remains sturdy and Fine overall. Inner brass frame has some aged patina and daguerreotype has some aging, but retains sharp image. Fine overall.
