Item Description
3-1/8x3-5/8x5/8" thick hinged embossed leather case w/plush velvet lining and exterior push button latch contains sixth plate daguerreotype showing portrait of regular US Army soldier w/his hat on stand beside him. 1850s. Velvet lining inside case front has "E. Long - Artist - 100 Market St. - St. Louis MO." photographer studio name incorporated into velvet design. Case has added cloth tape reinforcement to hinge, but this is not too distracting. Case shows scattered wear at corners w/some scuffs/flaking to front, but remains sturdy and Fine overall. Inner brass frame is bright and Exc. Daguerreotype has some margin aging, but retains sharp image. Fine/VF overall.
