Original 2.75x3.5x1.5" deep hinged lid cardboard box w/"Coronation Souvenir - Ingersoll Ltd. London" gold foil seal bearing profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II opens to reveal matching foil seal on padded satin lid lining above satin-lined insert that holds 2" dia. silver luster case pocket watch. Produced and issued to coincide w/the June 2, 1953 coronation of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey. Box shows scattered wear/aging w/all four corners split; two w/clear tape repairs. Lid shows moderate surface paper wear. Interior shows some lt. aging but overall, box is VG/Fine. Back of watch case has the coat of arms of Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh (as watch was produced just prior to the coronation. This shows moderate wear, but most remains visible. Decorative bow is designed to look like St. Edward's Crown, the centerpiece of the coronation regalia. Case is Fine. Dial feature smiling portrait of the Queen above flags of the realm. Small seconds dial at bottom center has "1953" date. Instead of regular numerals, dial features letters that spell out "Coronation". Dial has small area of staining at left of seconds dial but o/w remains clean. Dial is Fine/VF. Working. Scarce. Comes w/5.5x8-5/8" 1956 souvenir program of the Queen opening parliament. Program shows aging/wear and has some staple oxidation and is Fine overall.
