Item Description
Ornate 13x15" frame contains artboard w/pen and ink original art of Golden Age boxer character Pep Morgan, who was the protagonist in "More Fun Comics" (1936-1938) and then in "Adventure Comics" and "Action Comics" (1938-1941). Art is by Fred Guardineer (1913-2003), an American illustrator and comic book writer/artist best known for his work in the 1930s and 1940s. Art features great boxing action scene w/spectators in the bkg. Guardineer has initialed his work at lower right. Artboard has even aging and art has some white paint highlights. Art remains clean and Exc. Frame has custom "Pep Morgan" nameplate made using vintage comic panel at bottom center. Dan Makara Collection.
