Item Description
3.5x8.5" card has Superman image and text "Invite Superman Into Your Classroom. This Popular Comic Book, Radio And Cartoon Character Continues To Promote And Support The Schools At War Programs Through Special Incentives Designed To Encourage Patriotism In Students Through Grade Seven." Issued by the US Treasury Department, US Office Of Education and its Wartime Commission for the 1943-1944 school year. A matching Batman card was produced. Card has ink stamp of original recipient "Mrs. Eugenia Holden Vail G. S." at bottom. Slightly uneven horizontal crease at center w/two pairs of staple holes at top margin. Upper right corner has lt. corner tip wear. Fine/VF. Rare and only the third example we've offered in our 50 years. Franco Toscanini Collection.
