Item Description
2.25x5x1.25" deep cardboard window box features comic character faces including Popeye, Moon Mullins, Kayo, Little Orphan Annie, Krazy Kat and others around die-cut display window, which remains intact. Box held 5.25" tall jointed wood figure of Popeye as noted by small stamped "Popeye" name at bottom front of box. Jaymar, 1930s. Box has moderate aging and handling wear w/creases and corner tip/edge wear. Fine overall. Box is scarce. Comes w/Popeye figure w/stamped "Pop Eye" name and KFS copyright at bottom front of shirt. Stamped anchor "tattoos" on Popeye's arms. There were a number of varieties of this figure produced, this example has painted black wooden pipe. Figure has lt. general wear and stands well. VF overall. There were also a variety of Olive Oyl figures produced, this lot includes version w/large round orange wood skirt w/stamped "Olive Oyl" name and KFS copyright on the front edge. Some scattered lt. wear, but stands well. VF overall.
