Item Description
Lot of three, for two different trading card concepts. 1950s. First two cards measure 1-7/8x2.5" and feature hand-colored stats attached to front; one showing Roy Rogers, the other showing Roy w/Gabby Hayes. Roy card has hand-lettered text on back noting "There Are 36 Cards - Collect A Complete Series - Roy Rogers Trading Cards Are Fun To Save And Trade - Every Post Cereals Box Marked 'Roy Rogers Trading Card' Contains A Card - Watch For Them!" Gabby card back is blank. This proposed card series eventually became the 1951 "Hopalong Cassidy Wild West Trading Card" series, ACC# F278-12. Both are Exc. Larger 2.25x3.25" card features mixed media original art of front (including border) and has hand-lettered "Roy Rogers Turnabout Cards" text. Back's border is original art featuring cattle brands while center panel is panel from Roy Rogers comic book. This concept became the 1952 Post cereals "Roy Rogers Pop-Out Card" series, ACC# F278-19.
