Item Description
Impressive Pinocchio figure measures 13x15x38" tall and is attached to the original 15" square wooden base. c. 1940. Front edge of base has Metropolitan Mechanical Display Co. of New York company decal. Pinocchio's head and shoes are composition, arms and legs are wood and body is hard rubber-like material. Apparently hands were made from a less stable material and did not survive. These have been replaced w/stuffed plush hands that are of correct size and style. Wears original outfit of cotton shirt, velveteen vest and pants w/large metal buttons. Re-wired and working. Pinocchio's eyes light as he moves his head, arms and upper body. Base has moderate scattered wear to the green paint. Much of the top layer of the name decal is missing but text imprint remains. Pants have noticeable fading and large areas of moisture staining. Rest of outfit shows just lt. aging. Some restoration to Pinocchio's nose but all blends. Rest of body has additional scattered wear and aging including .75" paint flake to hair. Few scattered hairlines but nothing distracting. Overall VG. Comes w/5" tall injection molded hard plastic figure of Jiminy Cricket made in a Mold-A-Rama machine at Disneyland that can be held in Pinocchio' hand for display purposes. The most impressive Pinocchio item we've ever offered and the only example of this display we've seen in our 50 years.
