Item Description
These impressive hand-painted solid cast resin prototype figures were created by making molds and casts of the "Beauty And The Beast" animators' maquettes of Belle (10.25" tall), The Beast (12.5" tall), Gaston (12" tall), Cogsworth (9.5" tall), Lumiere (9" tall), Mrs. Potts (7.75" tall w/removable lid in place) and Chip (4.25" tall) that were used in the making of the 1991 Academy Award-winning animated musical film. At the time, limited editions of 500 pieces were planned to be made of each character. In actuality, only Belle and The Beast were ever produced for sale in limited editions of 500 each. The prototype Belle and Beast figures in this lot are painted in colors differing from the 500 piece editions; Beast having blue pants and a deep purple cape and Belle having a maroon base. Editions of the five additional figures were never produced other than these numbered prototypes. The Beast, Gaston, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts and Chips all have "7/12" written in marker on their undersides, while Belle and Lumiere have had their numbers rubbed off (but were from the same "7/12" casting group). All are and beautifully detailed and hand-painted, w/the only slight defects are the knob on Mrs. Potts lid being a bit loose (but still firmly attached), some lt. rim wear to Mrs. Potts and the separate candle snuffer for Lumiere has a hairline inside, not showing on top. Tiny flake to tip of arrow in Gaston's quiver, o/w figures are Exc. to NM as made. A great opportunity to obtain these prototype figures all at once.
