Item Description
8" tall jointed wooden doll w/movable composition head and cloth drawstring bag stamped "Popeye's Sea Bag" on one side. J. Chein & Co. ©1932 King Features Syndicate. Chein made several varieties of the size doll, this is variety w/gold/blue "Popeye" anchor symbol decals on each forearm and aforementioned sea bag. Jutting pipe inserted into the corner of mouth has miniature wooden bowl on wire rod. Bill of Popeye's cap is cello disc. Underside of one foot has Chein decal (which shows just lt. wear) while other has complete copyright stamp. Doll has tight elastic stringing and stands independently. Composition head has has professional restoration w/features repainted. As such, doll now displays VF/Exc.
