Item Description
1.25" dia. buttons and 5-1/8x8-3/8" letters. Buttons each feature a portrait w/full name below and slogans at top "Equal Rights To All" and "Prosperity Above Party." First has minor fading of red color and moderate surface wear. Extremely Fine. Second has cello. separation along collet that remains flat and likely occurred during manufacturing, light brown edge stains and moderate wear. Fine.  Both letters are on House of Representatives stationary w/two vertical mailing folds and light toning, VF. First dated Nov. 5, 1903 addressing the filing of an affidavit and signed boldly at conclusion "Joseph Silbey." Second dated Sept. 15, 1904 responds to a request about being placed on the jurors list for the US District or Circuit Courts w/stamped signature at conclusion. Sibley, a PA Congressman was an 1896 Presidential third party candidate of the Gold Democrats.
