Item Description
Large and impressive 30.5x42.25" frame holds wonderful full color illustration of featuring Tomahawk and Dan Hunter hunting in woods as painted by Fred Ray (1920-2001), a comic artist best known as the primary Superman cover-artist of the 1940s, whose work helped shape the defining look of the iconic superhero character, and for his more than two decades as artist of the DC Comics feature "Tomahawk." This art was published posthumously as the cover to "Alter Ego" #19 in Dec. 2002. Beautifully painted cover original art is further enhanced by great frame created by artist Dan Makara, featuring collage style utilizing various vintage "Tomahawk" comic images, including partial "Star Spangled Comics" covers (the title Tomahawk first appeared in). Exc. display and rare as Fred Ray paintings rarely come to market. Dan Makara Collection.
