Item Description
Sizes are 1.25" to 2-1/8". Group begins with button distributed as a publicity stunt by Fox Film Corporation at the GOP Convention held in Cleveland June, 1924. An article in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle reported "Thousands Of Cards, Pinned To Little Envelopes, Were Given Out Today. On The Cards It Said 'Mr. Delegate, What This Country Needs Is A Strong, Capable, Two-Fisted Man In Public Office. Tom Mix For Vice President'. The Envelopes Contained Little Picture Buttons Of The Publicity-Seeking Movie Actor". Next button promotes his "Tom Mix Circus" which he owned 1935-1938. Next are two sizes of the "Yankiboy Play Clothes" advertising buttons. These buttons, probably from the early 30s, represent two of the very earliest movie star cowboy endorsements of children's merchandise. All Exc. displaying Mint. Snuff Garrett Collection.
